Nov 14 · Saturday · 10:00–12:00Workshop: Bilingualism and EducationHow children learn languages and what supports their memory, concentration and development.

How do children learn languages? What supports their memory, concentration and development?

We invite you to a special workshop for parents at Maple Bear Katowice. We will look at how a child learns two languages and how their brain works, and show how to use this knowledge at home and in education.

What will you take away?

  • 01Knowledge about speech development: what is normal for a bilingual child.
  • 02An answer to “why isn’t my child speaking?”: what the silent period is and how to respond to it.
  • 03How to support your child at home: English in everyday life, even if you do not speak it fluently yourselves.
  • 04Knowledge about memory and attention: what helps a child remember for longer.

Who is it for?

  • For parents who are raising a bilingual child or thinking about it.
  • For parents whose child understands English but does not want to speak it.

“Sensory Gymnastics for the Brain”

A surprise awaits you at the end: an exercise programme developed for Maple Bear students. We will show how movement and the senses support concentration.

While you attend the Masterclass, our teachers will look after your children, preparing interesting and engaging activities based on the Canadian Maple Bear teaching methodology.

Nov 21 · Saturday · 9:00–12:00Science, Math & TechMaple Bear Open Day: science that captivates!

Can science be a fascinating adventure full of experiments, discoveries and finding answers on your own? At Maple Bear we show that it absolutely can!

We invite students in grades 3–6 to a special event where they can experience what lessons in the upper grades are like and see that mathematics, natural sciences and technology are far more than textbooks and theory.

What awaits the participants?

  • 013 hours of active learning: maths, Science, and technology and IT classes led by our teachers through engaging activities and practical challenges.
  • 02Questions, problems and discoveries: instead of ready-made answers, we focus on independent thinking, looking for solutions, forming hypotheses and drawing conclusions.
  • 03Experimenting and experiencing: students will see how the knowledge gained in lessons helps explain phenomena and better understand the world around us.
  • 04Technology in action: participants will explore what VR goggles, the computer lab and a 3D printer make possible. They will see how modern tools allow us to discover, design, create and learn through hands-on experience.

Parents are welcome too!

At 11:30 there will be a chance to get to know our school, talk to the team and learn more about our educational concept and learning in the upper grades.

Activities will run in rotation, so participants will explore different areas of science and feel the atmosphere of a school day at Maple Bear.

Come and see what learning that sparks curiosity, inspires action and helps discover your own abilities looks like!
