Terry Fox

Who was Terry Fox?

At the age of 18, Terry Fox lost his right leg to bone cancer. Instead of giving up, he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. During his Marathon of Hope he covered about 42 kilometres every day - in 143 days he ran more than 5,300 km, until the cancer spread to his lungs and forced him to stop. He died in 1981, aged just 22.

But his dream lived on. The Terry Fox Run is held every year in dozens of countries around the world, and on 10 October 2026 it comes to Katowice for the first time!

Sign up, come along and complete the course "no matter what" - because every step counts.

Joy, commitment and a shared goal - this is the Terry Fox Run in the Maple Bear community. Join us for the first edition in Katowice!
