When a Child Says “No” – How to Stay Calm and Avoid Ruining the Relationship
“No!”, “Not now!”, “I don’t want to!”, “I won’t!” – childhood rebellion is a daily occurrence that can be tiring, irritating, and undermine parental confidence. Many parents then wonder: where do these difficult behaviors come from and how can they respond without escalating the tension?
Monika Sobkowiak – a certified teacher, speech therapist, blogger, and author of parenting guides, known as “Mrs. Monia” – will answer these questions.
What will you learn at the workshop?
During the workshop, Monika Sobkowiak will show you how to look at a child’s stubbornness from a different perspective and how to build cooperation instead of fighting for obedience. She will discuss:
Where does rebellion in children come from – what really lies behind “I don’t want to” and “I won’t.”
What children really need in difficult times – and why it’s different from what they ask for.
How to set clear boundaries without punishment, yelling, or weakening relationships.
This workshop is full of concrete examples, ready-made messages, and practical strategies to use in everyday life.
During the workshop, Maple Bear teachers will lead educational activities for children – no need to find a babysitter.
Who is the facilitator?
Monika Sobkowiak, known as “Mrs. Monia,” is a well-known figure among parents and teachers in Poland. A certified teacher, speech therapist, and author of numerous publications for children, parents, and teachers, including games, courses, methodological guides, handbooks, and educational programs.
In her presentations, she shares knowledge based on over a decade of experience working with children. She doesn’t discuss parenting theoretically. She talks about what actually happens – at the dinner table, on the way to school, and before bed.
Through its online activities, it helps parents and teachers in Poland build safe relationships with children. It builds bridges between the worlds of teachers and parents, firmly believing that the path to a child’s success lies in the cooperation of adults involved in their upbringing.
