Research shows that the younger a child is, the greater is the effectiveness of their language learning. The earlier they are exposed to a foreign language, the better the chances of them speaking it in the future as if it was their own, native language. Researchers also agree that the most effective method of learning a foreign language is the immersion method.
The immersion model is characterized by overlapping the second language, which the children learn in kindergarten, with the first language, in which they communicate on a daily basis with those closest to them. The children are, so to speak, “immersed in the second language”, they hear natural, authentic expressions made by adults in that very language, and have an opportunity to imitate them and actively participate in linguistic interactions. This is how English learning takes place in Maple Bear schools and kindergartens.
Maple Bear Polska would like to invite all parents to a meeting with Maple Bear teachers and methodologists to learn what immersion is, explore the methods of learning a language through immersion and find out how Canadian methodologists put it into practice in the classroom.
During the webinar we will provide the participants with answers to questions such as:
- What are the benefits of teaching a language using the immersion method?
- When is the best time to start learning a foreign language?
- How should the teaching of a foreign language be organized in kindergarten and school?
- What are the conditions that need to be met in order for the immersion method to be effective?
